Called Back to the Well received initial funding from the Lilly Endowment for Sustaining Pastoral Excellence.  Through retreats, groups, and other programs, Called Back to the Well provides spiritual renewal for ministers, congregations, and judicatories.  We are seeking to sustain this vital program through gifts from individuals, churches, and foundations.  We hope you will consider a personal gift to Called Back to the Well.  Gifts to Called Back to the Well have a direct influence on clergy, congregations, and communities.  We hope you will consider an investment in this exciting ministry.  We appreciate a gift of any amount and will be good stewards of all gifts received.

Gifts to Called Back to the Well would offset the costs of our programs and are tax deductible:

  • One Sabbath Day for pastoral leaders costs Called Back to the Well $200 - participants pay $25
  • A Retreat costs Called Back to the Well $553 per person - participants pay $200
  • A Group costs Called Back to the Well $500 per person - participants pay $200

Why I Give to Called Back to the Well

I chose to give to Called Back to the Well in honor of a colleague in ministry’s retirement from years of dedicated service. There is no better way to honor a legacy of ministry than to help ensure that the task of ministry continues. Called Back to the Well provides nourishment for clergy so they may be about the work of cultivating the souls of others in the name of Christ. The best financial investment that the local church can make in their ministers is to cultivate their minister’s spiritual health. Called Back to the Well breathes the breath of the Holy Spirit into clergy vessels so that they are filled to overflowing.

- Rev. Alicia Harker, Bethany Christian Church, Odessa, TX

Early in my seminary education I was blessed to discover the power of silent retreat and guided meditation. Over the past twenty years there have been few readily available resources for supporting my need to grow spiritually -- Called Back to the Well (CBTW) is a welcome exception. As a matter of faithful stewardship I support this ministry with my prayers, my time (as a Project Team member) and my money. I am also advocating for greater involvement of my judicatory in the CBTW partnership -- this ministry truly does make a difference in the lives of church leaders!

- Pastor Patricia L. Holman, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Albuquerque, NM

Self care and emotional, physical and spiritual well being are important to me. With Called Back to the Well I have found a commitment to these same values and a connection to clergy from various denominations who are committed to well being.
