Early in my seminary education I was blessed to discover the power of silent retreat and guided meditation. Over the past twenty years there have been few readily available resources for supporting my need to grow spiritually—CBTW is a welcome exception. I support this ministry with my prayers, my time and my money. I am also advocating for greater involvement of my judicatory in the CBTW partnership -- this ministry truly does make a difference in the lives of church leaders!

Write To Soul - An eight week class that focuses on Writing as a Spiritual Discipline. Each gathering will provide an in-class assignment as well as a weekly writing project. Most assignments take the form of the creative nonfiction essay but other genres are also acceptable. In this small group setting, we create and share as we discover the sacred in the ordinary by using the art of creative writing.

Where: St. Paul Lutheran Church

Write To Heal - A six week class that focuses on Writing as a Healing Discipline. Join this small group as we take a look at what may be unhealed or unresolved in our spiritual lives. Each week we will focus on a particular issue where we might benefit from closer attention. Disappointment, anger, grief, lack of forgiveness for ourselves or others…these are just a few of the wounds we may uncover as we use writing as a healing discipline. There are both in-class assignments and weekly projects.

When: Evenings: Tuesdays, September 6 - October 11, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Where: First Presbyterian Church
Cost: $90

Write To Know - A one day workshop that focuses on writing as a discipline for discernment. Is there a decision you are trying to make? Are you trying to figure out a path to take, choice to make? This one day event is the opportunity to use writing as a means to find your truth, your heart’s true desire, what it is you most want. Providing you with questions to ask that will help you in your discernment process, this workshop will use writing as the tool to uncover a plan of action for yourself. Lunch will be provided and individual sessions with the facilitator are included.

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2011
Time:  9:00am - 3:00pm
Location:  TBD
Cost:  $100

Write To Publish - This is a workshop-style small group that helps participants shape up a writing project into a manuscript for a book. Is there a book in you? Do you have concrete ideas of what you want to put into a book for publication? This twelve week class will meet ten times as a group as well as provide two one on one sessions with the facilitator. How to write a book proposal, how to find a publisher, how to market your book, these are just some of the topics we will cover in this small group setting as we workshop your writings to get you “book-ready.”
