Scholarship Request Policy

Called Back to the Well provides matching scholarship funds for qualified candidates that are interested in attending a retreat or small/prayer support group but may not be able to cover all of the costs of travel and retreat/prayer group fees due to personal or congregational financial constraints. We would ask that only those prospective recipients that are truly unable to cover the costs of attending a retreat apply for scholarship funding.

Scholarship funding is available for all costs associated with attending a Called Back to the Well retreat including airfare, mileage (at .20 per mile), parking and retreat fees. Meals are provided as part of the retreat package, therefore participants may not seek scholarship funding for meal costs incurred outside of the retreat. Scholarships will be paid on a reimbursement basis, based on the records provided by the recipient in the attached Expense Reimbursement Report.

Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. All requests must include a minimum 20 % contribution (of overall cost) on the part of the prospective recipient. Those applying are encouraged to contribute a greater percentage if possible, so that Called Back to the Well can fund as many retreat scholarships as possible.

Called Back to the Well has a limited amount of funds available for retreat scholarships. For each fiscal year, scholarship funding will be suspended when the annual budgeted amount is committed. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, each fiscal year, and budgeted funds may not be reserved in advance for upcoming fiscal years.

Recipients that have been granted a scholarship but have not used the funds may reschedule a retreat any time during the fiscal year of the award but may not carry the funds over to upcoming fiscal years. If you receive a scholarship and do not use the funding within the fiscal year in which the award was made, you must reapply in the next fiscal year scholarship cycle. If you wish to change the matching percentage of your award, you must receive approval to do so prior to attending the retreat for which you have been awarded scholarship funding.

Scholarship requests should be submitted to the Called Back to the Well office via email to sjoiner@samaritancc.com, fax 505.323.1620 or by mail to 217 Locust Street NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

Questions regarding the scholarship request process may be directed to Wanda Tuck at 505.332.8020 or wtuck@samaritancc.com.
